The Final Magician

In a world where magicians had gone extinct ages ago, all but one remained. He filled entire stadiums to show the public that magic was, in fact, very real. During the magician’s finale on the stage, he entranced the crowd. As he moved his hand from side to side, the audience’s eyes followed in silence, and jaws dropped.

All but one.

A man at the center of the auditorium stared at the magician, legs crossed atop the chair in front of him. His leather cloak rippled as he laughed and clapped his hands mockingly, the sound of his expensive rings ricocheting off the auditorium walls.

The magician’s bones went still as he realized he was not the final magician.

A Merchant’s Secret

The daughter of a merchant was never allowed into her father’s study. Every night, she would hear the muffled sounds of men talking and wondered why her father was so secretive. One night, when he went to the town square to trade his goods, she sneaked into his study and found a photograph of her father surrounded by the most beautiful men she had ever seen. She gasped when she noticed that the other men wore shoulder armor and had pointed ears.

Her father was working for the Faeries, creatures that were forbidden from the human realm.

Phantom Parade

In 1800s London, when the clock towers strike midnight, marking the winter solstice, only one feeling prevails: fear. Inside every home, families secure their doors with three locks, a tradition intended to keep the spirits of the winter solstice at bay.

A pianist who doesn’t make it home before midnight approaches his front door to find three lunar moths on his welcome mat, an omen that the spirits of winter are nearby. As he pushes his way into the foyer, he catches sight of a figure in his periphery beneath the pale moonlight.

A man in white robes nearly blends into the fog rolling into the town. He is accompanied by a silver chariot and a white horse with gray eyes. The man in the chariot turns his head toward the pianist.

This is Zachariah, the leader of the phantom parade.
